What We Do
CoPSS has developed representative membership on a variety of bodies and committees engaged with surgical training. With a great wealth of experience of the delivery and leadership of surgical education and training, the Heads of School have much to contribute and by sharing thoughts, trends and new developments from these meetings with colleagues in real time, the delivery of surgical training in the UK can be kept contemporaneously informed.
Organisations and committees on which CoPSS provides a representative member or is in discussion about future co-working include:
- JCST with reciprocal representation from the JCST chair at CoPSS meetings
- quality assessment group
- recruitment and selection group
- post CCT fellowship working group
- specialty advisory committee liaison member induction
- RCSEng – invited membership on Council and also:
- learning and assessment committee
- senior clinical fellowship scheme group
- surgical tutor induction
- IST project board and working group
- JCIE
- Academy of Medical Royal Colleges – recent invitation to join medical manslaughter working group
